    I Love coming and having Ms Mattie do my hair, after searching for just one steady person that I could be a regular to, I have finally found Just that and I couldntbe happier. I Love how everything that she uses in my hair, she also has on hand for me to buy myself, and she has many different healthy ingredients to choose from. My hair has grown TREMENDOUSLY and is already past my waist, where as my sons hair is ⅓ longer than that and we are so excited to continue to watch our healthy Dread journeys.     Wow!! What a loc journey I am having with Ms. Mattie. She did my starter locs for me and now I’m in love with the whole journey process.     So I went in for an appointment and was immediately impressed. I came in while the shop was being revamped and the energy was amazing! Her whole crew is cool and down to earth. Gives you the feel of being in a “barbershop”...Plus, she knows hair!It’s been 2 weeks and my edges ares still attached!!! ;-) 😏💯Best experience I’ve had in a natural salon.     Mattie always does such a great job on my dreads, I came in with my hair in such bas shape from having surgery and not being able to take care of them. I went to another locticion and I wasnt satisfied, Mattie interlocked, washed, repaired and palm rolled all in one appointment for a wonderful price.     This is there first time in 10 years that I have tried a new hair salon. Sometimes that can be terrifying when you try some one new but I stumbled across the best salon. My first time walking in, I was greeted by Robert immediately as I walked in the door and he made sure to answer all my questions while be very kind. When I came for my appointment Ms Maddy with her sweet country accent made me feel comfortable, as she wasfast and efficient and very talented, there was nothing I asked her she couldnt do.     I just want to start off by saying how satisfied I am with this business. Mattie (the owner and stylist of this salon) is so nice, professional, and gets the job done !She did such a wonderful job on my box braids and gave me exactly what I wanted. She takes pride in her work and takes care of your natural hair on top of making the style look good. She doesn’t braid overly tight and always makes sure you are comfortable.The salon is homey and clean; she has snacks available just incase you get hungry as well as different movies/tv choices for you to watch.My experience here was well worth it and I will definitely be going back to her.     My daughter and I live overseas and dont get a chance to get our hair done regularly. Being a Muslim woman who covers, I was apprehensive in going to a public salon, but mentioned it to Ms. Mattie.     Where do I start ! From the moment I first talked to ms Mattie I knew I made the right decision. This woman is a miracle worker. Not only did I witness this with my own experience but everyone that came in for services she was on it. Happy customers and smiles all around. This isn’t even where the experience stops.     This is my first time here and I have no complaints. Krystal is courteous and professional. I have had a few bad experiences with getting my locs retwisted and styled, it being too tight, pulling out my hair from da roots, and styles I did not ask for or like. Krystal listened to my concerns and kept them in mind as she did my hair. She will make sure when you leave, you are completely satisfied. I recommend them and I will be back.

    I stumble across Ms. Mattie and Lee in the flea market on the corner of Fowler & Nebraska one Sunday. Kee was working on a father(dreads) and Mattie took care of the son(cornrow design) and their work looked amazing! I took a card and after weeks of dithering, I made an appointment for today. Mattie & Kee were so patient with me while I tried to figure out whether I wanted braided extensions or cornrows. I finally decided on a simple braided bob with a little platinum blonde in the front to augment the white hairs I already have in that area. I arrived with my hair washed and conditioned but NOT oiled. We did start a half hour after my scheduled time but once Kee got me in the chair, it took 5 hours from start to finish to do my braids. It came out amazing! Worth every penny of the quote given when I made the appointment. I highly recommend this duo of natural stylists and will definitely be back again!

    RE: Wilkela Maddox postHow dare Wilkela Maddox write such a nasty post about Mattie. She has been nothing but nice to Key. Mattie treated this girl like a daughter. She would pick her up for work and drop her off back without charging her any fees because shes a caring individual and wanted her to succeed. Mattie sacrificed her safety to pick her up for work because Key lived in a very bad neighborhood where theres a lot of robbing and shootings. she would buy her lunch when she didnt have any money to do so herself, she brought her and her kids Christmas and birthday gifts. She allowed her 3 children to come to work with Key when she didnt have a baby sitter. She would feed her kids as well. Mattie would allow Key to use her vehicle to pick her children up from school. This lady treated her like a daughter when her own mother called Child Protective Services on her to try to get her kids taken from her. Mattie took her ice and food when her lights were off because she was worried about her children. She gave her furniture when her and her children were sitting on the floor without furniture. KEY was always late for work, leaving her customers just sitting for hours waiting on her. When she was scheduled to work, sometimes she wouldnt show up or call Ms. Mattie to tell her she was running late or that she wasnt coming to work. She always had excuses! Some of them were.. Im in the hospital, my kids are at the hospital, someone robbed me, CPS is at my home, someone ran over my boyfriend, someone robbed my boyfriend, someone beat up my kids, someone punched me in the face and knocked my teeth out, my child is having a seizure or asthma attack, I dont have a ride to get there, my sister will bring me to work.. but she never showed up for work, I have a food stamp appointment, and the list goes on.Ms. Mattie understands that people have emergencies, but when its soooo many back to back every week, then you start to feel like something isnt right. Key said she would bring in hospital discharge papers. You guessed it, she never brought them in to her because she was lying. She was fired after being deceitful. She tried to steal customers by slipping them her phone number, she stole customers and took them to hotel rooms to do their hair, She stole money and got caught in the act, she would lie about how many customers she would do a day, just to keep money. I would of gotten rid of her a year ago! Mattie tried to help her over and over again! Those who dont want to be helped, simply cant be. WE SHOULD ALL EXCEPT OUR FAULTS, WRONG DOINGS, AND LEARN FROM THEM, AND NOT TRY TO BLAME OTHERS IN THE PROCESS!!Ms. Matties reviews speaks for her awesome work, and no one else in Tampa can duplicate it!!The post that Wilkela Maddox wrote is such a nasty, lying, cruel, and defaming post.
