Barbara Ann is a skilled stylist with a big heart. She makes you feel like family the minute you walk in, whether you are her client or the client of one of the other stylists. Mai, who does the pedicures was awesome and took her time to make sure everything was perfect.

Just visited here with my son who wanted a perm for the longest time. We arrived at our scheduled time and was greeted right away and knew who we were. 13 yr old kid getting a perm go figure. Lol, the staff was excellent and very polite. Barbara Ann took great care of him and did an amazing job. I anticipated being there for more than 2 hrs and yes it took that long yet she still did an amazing job. My son loves how it looks and is excited to it full sets in.Thank you all for the great service. Definitely recommend and will be back for his cuts as well.P.S. hes still smiling ear to ear.

Barbra Ann (and Alan) do incredible work at Salon 51. They helped me take a chance on something a little wild and challenging to pull off. They did precision work and made my hair look perfect! The color, the cut—everything about it made me look more distinctive and marketable in my industry of entertainment. Their prices are reasonable and Barbra Ann is so skilled, she always uses gentle and effective techniques and procedures—PLUS she has the most amazing shampoo and conditioner, which I went home with! I will definitely be coming back because they made me feel so comfortable and appreciated. You will be in for a treat if you try this great salon for your new look!!

I only come to this Salon for my hair care needs . Barb is super talented in what she does and on top of that a wonderful person ! Her haircuts always look professional and she does the most beautiful Dutch braids. Any time I have my hair cut or my hair braided here I get so many compliments and I proudly tell where I get my hair done . I know I’ll always be taken good care of when I come in. Her staff is also very warm and welcoming and a great group of people. Millenials cant go wrong with coming here for a new look!

I had the most amazing experience at this salon. Firstly, I called at 3:30 asking if they can fit me in last minute for a gel mani pedi and a wash + blow dry. They squeezed me in without a problem! Going into this salon, immediately I had a family-like feeling. I got a gel mani pedi with Maye and she was so sweet. I can really tell she puts a lot of care and invests in her materials! She had every supply I could think to have for nails. She was so sweet and kept reassuring that I was okay. She also had no problem working with my super tiny stubborn nails. After getting my nails and toes done Barbra-Ann started on my hair. We had some conversation and her personality was so VIBRANT. I got to know her so well and I could really tell she cares for her clients. She used the best products on my hair. We stayed in the salon a little late but she did not mind at all! She took her time on my hair and did the most amazing job!! I felt so comfortable and had so much fun! The staff were all filled with enthusiasm and professionalism. They each care to get to know you a little more all while doing their job effectively and incredibly. I can’t wait to go back already!!

This salon is a hidden GEM. I had my hair cut by Barbara Ann who is a bonafide MASTER hairstylist which seems so rare these days. Ive been going to a salon for a year and always left feeling like something was off and on my last visit, my haircut was a mess. I decided to visit Salon 51 and all I can say is WOW. Having had my fair share of haircut mishaps and some really good ones, I could tell immediately that Barbara Ann takes CONTROL of those scissors and works magic and gives you an actual hair-STYLE. Im literally blown away by her talent. And she is one of the most genuine and kind-hearted (and funny) people. I am SO thankful to her and love the great energy in her salon.

I love this salon! I am from Long Island, NY. Pure and simple; if you didnt go to a posh salon there, you didnt get a good cut. I live near downtown Fort Lauderdale close to Las Olas, where everything and everyone is posh and I stayed with the gal who styled my hair for 18 years. I felt a loyalty toward her but it became one-sided.I tried Salon 51 because my good friend works there. I loved the first haircut she gave me! The price was also 60% less. I told the owner she should raise her prices because I see the quality of work that all the stylists put out. She went up $3.00 this month. I was thinking it should be much more but she doesnt want to lose the clientele that have been coming since she opened her doors 33 years ago. I receive so many compliments about my hair cut that I feel foolish for the loyalty I had for my previous hairdresser. From the first time I walked in I felt so welcome, everyone is so friendly and willing to help you feel comfortable. People who I have referred to Salon 51, have said the same thing. They felt a warm, friendly welcome and they felt the friendships that exist among the staff. It makes a tremendous difference and something that the even the Mayor of Oakland Park noticed. The owner of Salon 51, Barbara Ann Ives, was appointed, by a majority vote, to the City Commission.After the salon closes, Barbara Ann, the owner of the salon, gives free haircuts to the homeless and washes their clothes. As part of the Kiwanis, she plans on giving out 500 free haircuts to underprivileged children. She opens the doors at the salon as a donation site after a disaster and had a haircut-a-thon for breast cancer awareness. She doesnt stop giving to those in need and it makes you feel good, just being near her.

I just had my hair done by Barbara! It was perfect and amazing! She does an incredible job. She listens to you on what you want and then does it perfectly! I highly recommend her salon! I was so happy that I was able to schedule my appointment via email. They were very prompt. To me, the best part of a hair cut is getting my hair washed and it was so enjoyable. I loved that the staff was so nice and friendly. My hair style is really simple since I wear it all 1 length but I was happy that all my split ends were trimmed off as I requested.
