    Kat is an exceptional hairstylist. After seeking recommendations from various people in the area, I was unable to find anyone who could replicate the haircut I received from my hairstylist back home. Thankfully, I discovered Kat. She is one of the best hairstylists I have ever met. I would highly recommend her services. While I had initially intended to keep her a secret, she kindly requested that I share my positive experience through a review.

    Chris has been cutting my family’s hair for more than 10 years. He always has done a great job listening to each of us and advising us. And he’s fantastic with color!A year ago Kat cut my hair for the first time - and gave me a cut that really allowed me to embrace my curly hair. She’s a genius with curls!On top of all the talent, they are both really wonderful people!

    Believe the hype about Kat! She is a curly girl guru. I began my curly/wavy journey about a year and a half ago after having stick straight hair for most of my life. Aging hair is real-lol! I spent months on YouTube researching products and styling methods. Ive been to a few hairdressers and they did an adequate job, but I knew my hair had not reached its potential. Kat saw me at a supplement store, complimented my hair (which looked pretty good that day) and within 20 minutes I was in her chair getting the best cut of my life! She taught me about product and styling and oh my goodness, it is going to be so much easier going forward! Kat takes the stress out of being a curly girl and even though the cut was pricey for Sarasota it is WORTH IT! Good haircuts hold their shape longer than average ones and Im curious to see how long this lasts but I will 100% be back to see Kat. She is a treasure and should be booked for months in advance. Tell every curly girl you know!

    Came here while on vacation, and I can tell you right now I picked the right place! Friendly people & a very clean salon. I had an appointment for full highlights and a cut and Priscilla Nailed it! I Would definitely recommend her to anyone new in the area or on vacay looking for some pampering! She is the best hair washer as well, who doesn’t love a good scalp scrub! Another thing I loved was that you can book your appointment online!

    I have been looking for a hairstylist who understands curly hair. Kat is truly an artist not only did she bring my curls back to life. She also guided me on how to care for my hair and maintain it in a way that is low maintenance and easy. I will definitely be returning here and am happy I finally found my hairstylist in Sarasota!!

    When I moved to Sarasota I had a hard time finding the right stylist, hair cutter and colorist. Once I found Shear Styles I looked no more. I have been coming here for almost 5 years. I get more compliments on the cut and color than I ever have even when I lived in DC and NY. This business is not a market of vendors. It is privately owned by Chris, and he has an excellent associate who also provides hair services. I cant imagine anyone who wouldnt appreciate quality work, professionalism, and a nice atmosphere for all your styling needs. They also have a lot of additional services.

    I met with Kat not knowing the amazing experience I was about to receive. My cut my hair a couple of years ago (it was a terrible mess) and I had been trying to fix it ever since. When I met with Kat, it was like she understood my hair and knew what would look best for my face and texture. Mine you, I have kinda long, curly hair so it’s easy to get overwhelmed with it. But Kat was so wonderful. She gave me recommendations for products based on what she saw my hair was missing. She even recommended I cut my layers even shorter than what she originally suggested. At first I was like, let’s see how this looks and I left that day feeling so great and my hair felt so light. A few weeks later I ended up going back to pick her up on her suggestion to go shorter on a top layer because I realized she was right and my hair looks even fuller now with less hair! It’s incredible how much she’s changed my confidence in my hair now. And to top off the whole experience, Kat was such a lovely, spunky conversationalist. Highly recommend Sheer and Kat specifically if you have longer curlier hair. Best stylist I’ve had in years!

    Kat was amazing. I had been growing my hair out for over 6 years for my wedding. We are staying in Siesta Key for our honeymoon and I was ready to chop it all off! She did such a good job and was such a pleasure to work with! I would highly recommend her for your next cut. :-)

    I have been having my hair cut, colored and styled by Chris for the past two years. He listens, has a great sense of styling and is a master hair cutter. He is also a really nice guy and invites you back if you are not quite happy with the cut. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

    Clients beware! This place is extremely expensive!! I had an hour long hair cut with Kat and it was $140!!! It was simply a cut for long hair and not even a shampoo. She did a great job cutting my hair and it turned out really cute, but I was blown away at the price!

    I was down here in Florida for a week and was looking to get a haircut. I was reading reviews and saw that this salon had good reviews. I made the appointment and was not disappointed. Chris listened to what I was looking for and cut and styled the way i wanted it .He was very professional and I loved the way it came out. Will be back again.

    I have difficult naturally curly hair. I had to cut my own hair during the stay-at-home orders. What started as 6 coming off turned out to be 10 before I gave up and waited for professional help! I searched for a 4.5 star or better salon and found Shear Styles. I went to see Chris and he fixed my home cut! Great experience - I have found my go to hair place!

    Katya is a hair GENIUS. I’ve spent my entire life looking for someone who truly understands curly hair. I’ve gone to all the curly hair salons: Ouidad, Devaschon, I’ve tried the curly Girl method, I’ve done it ALL. It wasn’t until Katya worked my hair that it finally reached its truest potential. People stop me in the street , in stores, at bars, EVERYWHERE just to tell me how beautiful my hair is. I spent 34 years wandering lost until Katya. Her cuts are clean but she adds a little style depending on your personality. She helped my funky side be revealed and I honestly feel better in my skin, like my truest self is felt inside and expressed outwardly. I swear, she is a hair genius and her skills are unparalleled. BOOK HER ASAP YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!!

    I went in with long hair down to my shoulders and wanted a short haircut. Now Ive had my hair cut short by other stylist and was always unhappy, so I was apprehensive to cut it again. After a consultation with Chris I bit the bullet and let him do his magic and I have to say he did a fantastic job. He listened to what my concerns were and I finally was able to walk out of a salon feeling happy and beautiful. I will definitely recommend anyone to try SHEAR STYLE4S. Chris and his wife Monique are both professional and accommodating stylist as well as just great people. I wont go anywhere else.

    This is one of the few places anywhere I will have my hair cut. I am incredibly particular about about who cuts my hair and due to my crown and cow-lick, it is no easy task. I will only have it 100% scissor cut and Monique does a great job. Even though it takes much longer for a guys cut, she never rushes or otherwise makes me feel like I am demanding too much for the same price that other guys get the trimmer for. She has to point-cut and thin my hair, and always does a fabulous job. Not to mention the salon has a very neighborhood and laid-back feel - I always meet people there - and end with a hot towel treatment that I wish was 15 minutes longer. All for the same price! A highly recommend and all around great experience - you are in good hands with Monique and Chris.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE Chris & Monique! Two other times I tried someone else and Monique ended up fixing their mess. Lessons learned! Chris also dyed my hair for my wedding 2 years ago and made sure I absolutely loved the color before I left. I wont go anywhere else now.

    I went in for an appointment with Sarah after a friend recommended her. She trimmed up both my hair and beard.I am extremely picky on how both are done and normally do not trust anyone to do it other than two barbers I’ve been going to for years but both were either booked up or on vacation.Sarah was extremely professional, listened well, was extremely attentive and even made some suggestions that I allowed her to implement and was thrilled with the result. I have gotten many compliments on my beard specifically for taking her suggestions on shortening up areas I do not normally like short to slightly change the shape.The thing that impressed me the most however was her conscientiousness and attention to detail, she went back to specific areas at the end, making sure I was genuinely okay with each section, I’ve never had someone care that much about making sure her client left happy with the finished product, not the normal “everything look good?... okay next!” so many of us have become accustomed to.One last thing, in addition to her skill Sarah is extremely personable, she will not just talk your ear off or leave you in awkward silences, which is something I used to dread when trying out a new barber or stylist. She has a genuine conversation with you that makes the time in the chair fly by.I couldn’t recommend her more!

    I was so, so lucky; I stumbled across Chris and Shear Styles after I had just relocated to Sarasota, and my new home is near his salon. I read a bunch of wonderful reviews, and now I see him every four weeks for eternity, because no one else can force my short, silver, difficult hair to do what I want it to while chatting about what to do and where to go. Hes busy, but try to catch him if you can...as long as you dont bump me off his schedule :-)
