Tina at total image cuts the best hair in town, period, full stop. of all the people i have had cut my hair, tina is the most thoughtful and skillful. she understands the needs of your hair intuitively from years of experience and cuts it thinking of how it will look a week from now, a month from now, and so on, in addition to how it looks as you leave the salon. she simply is an expert, the only expert stylist i have ever met, frankly, and if she ever stops cutting hair i will just let mine grow until it touches the ground and the friction wears it down. all my friends see her. shes simply magic. and affordable, which is outrageous given the quality of the cut. i cannot recommend her enough!

I just want to say, I LOVE TINA! She is my favorite hair dresser in all of Gainesville. She knows what she is doing. I’ve been having her do my hair ever since I moved up to Gainesville 10 years ago. And yes I have tried many other places, for one reason or another. Such as availability, location of where I’m living at the time, or the hype of a new fancy place.Well I always end up coming back to Tina at TOTAL IMAGE. This isn’t bash any other places I’ve gone. There’ve done a fine job for the most part.. but I haven’t felt myself the last year while I’ve been growing out my hair from my last cut (I know, prob too long to wait for a trim) but I finally got back in to see Tina today and I am SO HAPPY.Point is, anyone looking for a hairdresser I recommend Tina at Total Image ☺️ I finally feel pretty today after looking blah for so long.

I just moved up to Gainesville from south Florida and was looking for a new hair salon and took a chance on total image salon. I’m so glad I did because my hair looks gorgeous and feels so healthy now. It’s such a cute and quirky shop, I loved the atmosphere! Just remember to bring cash or download zelle :)

I just moved to Gainesville for college and needed a quick trim after work. I found Total Image Salon then called to see if they had an opening. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a warm smile and a Hey how are you? from April. I was seated right away, April and I discussed what I wanted done to my hair for a few minutes then she went right to work. Im exceedingly happy with how my hair came out!! On top of that I was only charged 30$ for a shampoo, trim, and style! Total Image is now my go to salon and I highly recommend you give them a visit. You will not be disappointed.

I have been going here for about 3 years now, and I always have a great experience. I have thick hair and went from long to medium length, and got a great haircut and blow dry for $42 in about an hour. I brought pictures of what I wanted, Tina cut my hair and Gail blow dried it, and both did a wonderful job. Would highly recommend this salon.

I have visited a few other salons in Gainesville over the years, but I keep coming back to Total Image because Tina always cuts my hair exactly how I want it and will give suggestions if I ask. My whole family loves coming here, too!

I went here twice in the past and had April for my haircuts but since she isn’t here anymore, I had mine done by Tina. They have the best prices I’ve seen and I always am satisfied with my haircuts after telling them what I like. Tina is really nice. She’s flexible on openings so when I called she got me a spot right away.

Amazing experience for an unbeatable price!April was my stylist and she was incredibly nice, as well as attentive. She answered all my questions about upkeep. She also asked me thoroughly about the length and communicated her methods as she was cutting. I havent had professional cut in over 3 years and she did wonders! I was completely satisfied, and she told me even if I wasnt, to come back so she could fix it. These lovely ladies have years and years of experience and I would feel 100% confident going back. It was a professional cut at the lowest price in town, highly recommend giving it a try :)

I love this place and recommend it very highly! ❤️March 2020: When speaking to some of the stylists you may have to stress exactly what you want several times before you let them do anything. My recent haircut was well done but exactly the opposite of what I asked for. Not happy but this is still a wonderful salon.

I had an amazing experience here. Ive never had my hair colored professionally, and April made me feel at ease with her knowledge. She knew exactly what I wanted without even me Knowing exactly what I wanted. She is fun, knowledgeable, gifted and flexible! I literally had no appointment, but within 2 hours after calling I arrived and had my hair done (cut, color, blow dry) 3 hours after arrival. Shes was even willing to work late for me! Thank you! Other places wouldnt even cut my hair with that short notice! Im glad because I enjoyed my experience here! Definitely will be back!

I have been going here for almost two years now and April is a truly great stylist! I brought in pictures of what I wanted and she was very honest about how we could achieve going light blonde without totally wrecking and damaging my hair. She is a very kind and hard working person and I always enjoy chatting with her. She also makes herself available if you have any questions or concerns about how to best take care of your hair after you leave. On top of all of that, the prices are incredible and it is definitely the best value I have ever found for a cut and highlights! I couldn’t recommend her more! (The photo is my most recent cut where I decided to go darker again for the fall/winter, so she suggested a demi-permanent so I can go light again without damaging my hair as much!)

She listens to what you want and proceeds to tell you if it will work for you or not. Always pleased with the outcome. I would say to call herald giver her a chance, you wont be disappointed.

Tina was super down to earth and patient in listening to my concerns and vision for my new haircolor. I have naturally light brown hair that I had been keeping much lighter and my hair was starting to really feel damaged and frumpy. Tina got me closer to my natural brown color while adding dimension so I look really lovely and my hair is so happy and healthy. She was great! I think their prices are really fair and they dont try to sell you products. I will be back for a haircut soon! Wonderful experience.

I had my hair cut by Tina recently. I have gotten several bad haircuts in Gainesville and I am upset it took me so long to find Tina! She did a great job of cutting my hair exactly how I wanted but I was impressed by her patience while she cut my hair as well as her explanation of her process. I will most definitely be returning! She provides a high level of customer care and you can tells he genuinely cares about her customers.

After unsuccessful offer from the other salon in the neighborhood, the lady in this salon accepted me the same day, within the hour I called. I had blonde hair with roots of 1/2 inch and 1 inch of lighter brown color. She did exactly what I asked, lighten up that brown part and highlighted roots to the extent that some is left untouched, which blends it in nicely. I am definitely coming back again. Service, vintage atmosphere and price - unbeatable! Five stars

Tina is the aboslute best hair stylist I have ever been to. She stripped a bunch of dye Id put into my hair and got it back to its natural color, feeling way healthier and bouncier than before. She didnt lecture me about boxed dye, instead she explained what happens to your hair when it is dyed and safe ways to keep your hair looking healthy. She is a total sweetheart and makes you feel like a star, even on a budget. She is more than affordable and really cares about her clients. I wish I could rate her 100 stars!!!

April was the absolute sweetest and took me in as a walk in when she didnt have to. then she worked forever to get the perfect color i wanted and taught me how to cut my bangs. i had never even heard of this place until a happy accident of other places being closed (which im SO glad for!) April is the absolute best in switching to her to do my hair now (: 1000000% recommend!

FIRST HAIRCUT IVE RECEIVED IN A WHILE THAT I DIDNT INSTANTLY REGRET! As a guy with curly medium-length hair, I had been searching for a reliable barber that wouldnt just cut off most of my hair and give me the typical jock military cut. After a recommendation from my sister (who also really loved her hair), April really listened to my suggestions (which were admittedly vague), and gave me a haircut I absolutely love. She was friendly, skilled, and gave me a fantastic haircut at a very reasonable price!

Tina is awesome! I have been going to total image for several years now and would not go anywhere else. I have long hair with layers and highlights. Tina always does my hair so that when it grows out a little the highlights still look great. Not like other salons. The prices are great and staff are all very friendly!! I will definitely continue to go to Total Image as long as I am in Gainesville. Tina has always been very accommodating to my schedule over the years and provides a great services at a great price. Tina cuts, colors, and styles my naturally dark and curly...often frizzy...hair. I always leave the salon with an extra spring in my step and bounce in my hair. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Tina was able to fit me in last minute and did such an amazing job. At a glance she was able to see what was making my hair look and feel lifeless (the wrong type of layering for my hair) and explained her reasoning for what she was doing as she went along. So when I walked in, I was a bit on guard about the whole situation. The place isnt the most stylish but thats ok, youre not there to judge the décor. The lady was so nice and very friendly. She took me 10 minutes early which was great. The haircut itself was amazing and my hair is so fashion forward. The pricing is excellent. I got a very simple haircut. Just a little bit of a cut at the end and framing in the face. If you want something simple for a good price this is the place to go. I wouldnt be able to tell you the fullest extent of their skills unless I got something more complex. I definitely will be visiting regularly.

Im new to the area, so I was very reluctant to try and go get my haircut with someone I dont know or trust. I checked out the reviews on some places as I really needed a haircut for my interview. I came in and found Tina working with another woman, and she told me to come in tomorrow.. But I told her I had an interview at 9:30 AM, so I couldnt. She kindly made no excuses and told me she could take care of me. I am pleased that I did not turn away the offer. I was able to get a second interview!

Settle down, kids, for a story of an Asian kid with thick, coarse, curly-wavy hair, who finally found a hairstylist goddess here and went from negative five to 100% confidence in her natural hair.Growing up, I was the weird Asian with the poofy, curly, lion mane hair that flared up like a mating frilled lizard at the slightest sign of moisture. In middle school, when I had to fill in for the part of a lion in a school play, my classmates literally just pulled out my hair and sent me onstage. My guy friends made fun of my hair. People never complimented it. People of my race asked why I didnt just get a straight perm and look like all the other Asians. It didnt help that no one in my circle of my family or friends had any idea how to take care of it, so I did a lot of trial and error, and tried a few cuts at chain salons, but nothing worked. So for twenty years of my life, I always had my hair either in a braid, up in a bun, or in a ponytail. There were only one or two days out of the year where I felt confident enough to let it down, and even then it would be for less than an hour before it got too big and frizzy.Then I stumbled across Total Image Salon, and my first impression was, Well. This doesnt look like your normal ritzy chain/upscale hair salon. Its hidden away in a corner where the older residents reside near downtown, and doesnt have big flashy signs or fancy lighting or anything. I had talked to Tina to make my appointment, and Ive stuck with her since, but I have confidence that any of the other hairstylists there share her magical hair-styling abilities, because she either trains them or watches them do trial runs, and only accepts those that meet her standards.Anyway, I only came in for a cut at that time; no blow-dry, no coloring, just a plain cut. At that time, it was $25, which is, as other people might have mentioned, as cheap as it gets for a womens haircut. The wash and cut took less than half an hour, and I went through the next few days feeling skeptical of how it would turn out. But I wasnt too worried, since Tina told me that if I had any problems with it, I could always come back and shell re-cut it until Im satisfied.It has been two or three years since I started going to her, and since then, Ive never had to go back for a re-cut, and Ive never changed hairstylists. I dont do anything but a basic haircut or trim each time, and Ive never tried the hair/color treatments that they do (although I hear that those are even more fantastic). Tina explains the different techniques that she does--long layers, cutting the sides at a slightly lower angle than most hairstylists, point-cutting the ends because I have hair that curls from the roots and then becomes straight and frazzled at the ends, cutting the bangs so that the ends of them curl away from the face, things like that.And she is always 100% honest about what looks good or doesnt look good on you. Part of the reason why I never tried coloring my hair with her is that she told me my natural hair color looks best, and if I really wanted to get it colored, shed recommend only going a couple of shades lighter. I recall joking with her once that I sort of wanted to try a bob to change things up, but she looked absolutely appalled and replied that while I had the face shape to pull it off, it wouldnt look anywhere as good as my normal long cut. And I adore her honesty--I know in most places, customer service will try to sugar-coat things for you, but when it comes to hair, you want that brutal honesty. You want to know what wont work, what might, and what will look freaking fantastic.Since then, the price of a cut has made a massive jump from $25 to $30 (yes, that was sarcasm), although I honestly think that with Tinas skills, she could be charging a lot more and Id still be rushing to her every four months for a trim. I hardly ever tie my hair up anymore, and now people never believe that yes, this gorgeous mop on my head is au naturel and requires no styling whatsoever.So thank you, Tina, for everything.
